Sridhareeyam

About 18 commentaries are available for Srimad Bhagavatam. One of the most popular and widely accepted commentaries is that of Sri Sridhara. The commentary is popularly known as ‘Sridhareeyam’.
Sridhara lived in the modern day city of Allahabad near Triveni Sangamam. He was a great ‘Tarka’ (debate) scholar and his commentary has a ‘tarka’ flavour to it.
It is said that Sridhara wrote the commentary for Srimad Bhagavatam as he was singing his little child to sleep!
It is also believed that Lord Veni Madhava, who is the primary deity at the Triveni Sangamam, verily acknowledged Sri Sridhara’s commentary on Srimad Bhagavatam.
