COMPASSION OF SADHUS
Generally, a person is blessed with the Darshan or association of a Mahatma, soon after he performs some virtuous deed. But, in the case of Parikshit, one might wonder how he got the association of Sri Suka despite placing a dead snake around Sage Sameeka’s neck!
But, the fact is that, Sage Sameeka never considered it as an offence against him, for he felt that it was quite natural for a king to feel annoyed when his request is not honoured. It was Sage Sameeka’s son, Shringi, who got offended and cursed Parikshit.
On the other hand, Sage Sameeka only felt compassion for King Parikshit that his son had cursed him severely for no reason, and wished that the King might find a way out. It was this compassion that sprung from the heart of Sage Sameeka that secured the grace of Sri Suka for Parikshit.
