JIVA KARUNYA

A man is a strong advocate of the cause of ‘Jiva Karunya’ [compassion towards living beings by not hurting them]. He speaks about it and propagates the message as much as possible. He strongly condemns slaughter of cattle and the killing of elephants.However, when he gets back home, he enjoys feeding tiny worms and insects to a fish in a tank. He keeps a parrot caged at home. His grandson is playing by tying butterflies and dragonflies to a thread. His little granddaughter takes a rat from a trap and feeds it to the petcat.

One is left wondering if the value of life varies based on the size of the creature! Maybe the lives of smaller beings do not matter that much!
