Fond memories of bliss – Part 13
This happened during a time when Sri Swamiji stayed in the Ashram.
One fine evening, in the Ashram premises, our Satsang speaker Sri Ramanujam was chanting the Mahamantra in the sanctum of the Lord. Sri Swamiji came to the hall and summoned Ramanujam, ‘Why don’t you accompany me on my walk this evening?’ Ramanujam’s face lit with joy and he happily accompanied our Guru Maharaj.
It was past sunset and they took a stroll into the village. All along the way, Sri Swamiji narrated His experiences about His sadhana whence He used to frequent the burial ground and meditate there for a long periods. While He was thus narrating, at one point He said, ‘let us pay a visit to this village’s burial ground today!’ Ramanujam was a little bewildered as to why Sri Swamiji would take him there at that hour, but quietly accompanied the Master.
As they neared the burial ground, Sri Swamiji pointed to a small narrow trench that was dug up for drainage. At Sri Swamiji’s behest, Ramanujam went and took a closer look at the trench. He found a little calf trapped inside it. The small helpless bovine was struggling to get out of the pit, but in vain.
That was when it struck Ramanujam why his Master took him along that evening. Immediately he rushed into the village for help. The villagers came and very soon, the calf was freed.
The job was over! And so was the stroll! After seeing the calf leap away in joy, Sri Swamiji swiftly walked back to the Ashram. Ramanujam realized Sri Swamiji’s real intention behind the ‘stroll’ and ‘the visit to the graveyard’!
