Fond memories of bliss – Part 35

Mannargudi is a town in the Southern part of Tamil Nadu.

This incident happened a few years ago when Sri Sri Swamiji visited this town. After having spent the day meeting devotees in the town, Sri Swamiji retired for the night. I sensed that Sri Sri Swamiji felt restless and could not sleep. His face wore a sad look and His eyes were moist with tears. I was shocked because I have never seen Sri Sri Swamiji in such low spirits. I asked Him ‘Swamiji, is something wrong?’

Sri Swamiji told me, “The last time I came to this town, a lady approached me asking me to initiate her with Nama. As I was in a hurry then, I quipped ‘Let’s see during the next trip.’

This morning, I learnt that the lady is no more alive. I am terribly guilty that by procrastinating, I have deprived a soul of the Divine Name. I am ashamed that I have been derelict in my duty.”

Since then, whenever a devotee requests initiation, Sri Sri Swamiji does it then and there, entertaining no delay.
